Summary
Host Mike Rowe demonstrates some of the dirtiest jobs that have to be done to keep the world fed and cleaned. In program one, Mike learns the work of the Gandy Dancer at the Modoc Railroad Academy (13 min.), makes sausage in Louisiana (13 min.), and steps into the shoes of skull cleaner . Here he learns how beetles are used to clean skulls, then power washes the skeleton of a forty-two foot long humpback whale (13 min.). In Program two, Mike joins a building salvage company as they salvage materials from Upsala College in New Jersy (13 min.). He then visits an anthracite coal mine in Pennsylvania and gets a lesson on how coal is removed from deep in the earth. After clearing the mine, he sets off explosives and blasts a new vein of coal (28 min.)
