Summary
Penelope Petunia, a young forest elephant in the Central African Republic, tells the story of her life in a forest clearing at the Dzanga-Ndoki national park, her species' fight for survival and what children can do to help save elephants. Fifth graders at the P.S. 107 John W. Kimball Learning Center, an elementary school in Park Slope, Brooklyn, wrote and illustrated this moving story with a foreword by Dr. Jane Goodall. The year-long project was a collaboration between the P.S. 107 Beast Relief committee, wildlife conservationist Andrea Turkalo and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS)
